Welcome to The Devine School.  We pride ourselves in maintaining our professionalism while creating a positive, warm and loving environment for everyone who enters our facility; whether it is children, parents, visitors or even our mailman! Above and beyond all this, our number one priority is the children.  Every choice or decision made is based on creating the best environment we can for our children.

Our philosophy, simply, is to always put our children first.  We achieve this by continuously evaluating our program, researching best practices, use of parent /teacher feedback, involvement of outside agencies/ professional feedback and conducting a thorough interview process for all new employees.  This enables us to stay abreast of industry best practices to make quality, educated decisions for our program.  We believe one of the keys to this is stressing open communication between all parties.  By supporting this environment, we believe that all parties involved will feel empowered to communicate our successes and concerns.  This communication is crucial and it enables our program to be the best program possible for the children. 

Education of our children is a top priority.  We achieve this by evaluating and educating the whole child.  Our curriculum focuses on social, emotional, physical and academic growth.  We begin our curriculum in our Infant Room and it continues through our private Kindergarten program, which is licensed by the PA Department of Education (Please refer to each of the individual classrooms under “Classroom Descriptions” to review the curriculum for each room).  Our classrooms (Pre-Toddler and older) provide a structured program that is age appropriate and child focused, whether the lesson plan is teacher or child initiated.  We provide daily notes home to parents, post weekly schedules, provide quarterly progress reports for each child, new child observations/assessments and offer optional parent teacher conferences at any time upon request. Education of our staff is also very important to us.  We expect that all of our teachers continue their education so they are better prepared to teach our children.

A little bit about our history.  We purchased the center on S. Cedar Crest Blvd. in 2003 and have expanded the enrollment from 30 children to currently over 140.  We have had multiple expansions at this location, the last of which added an indoor gym and art room for the children to have additional space for gross motor and creative expression.  Based on the demand for quality child care in East Penn School District (and numerous parent requests) we decided to build a new location on Brookside Road in Lower Macungie Township.  The construction on this location is currently underway, and will be complete in late spring 2009.  The picture of this location is on our opening banner.  We believe our new location will provide an environment where parents can feel comfortable and confident that their children are well positioned to transition into the school district in which they live.

Our management team currently consists of Christine and Joe Devine and our two directors Miss Amanda and Miss Nancy.  Christine is an on site owner who is present and actively involved in the day to day operations of the center.   Joe has a career of his own, but does many of the behind the scenes tasks for the business.  Our two directors, Miss Amanda and Miss Nancy are also directly involved in all management decisions, implementation of policies & procedures and strict oversight of all happenings within the program.  When our Brookside location opens, Miss Amanda will be transitioning into the role of Director in that location and we will be adding an assistant at each location to assist with day to day tasks and activities. The rest of the management team at The Devine School consists of Head Teachers who are accountable for their classrooms as well as their Assistant Teachers.  You can learn more about our teachers by checking out the “Meet our Teachers” section of our website.
